Newspaper of the Year
The Financial Times’ insightful coverage of the credit crunch earned it many awards in the past year.
It was honoured as Newspaper of the Year twice in 2008: at the British Press Awards and at the Newspaper Awards. The paper also scooped many other recent awards, including seven prizes at the SOPA awards in Asia for editorial excellence.
Camfed
In 2008 the FT raised over £165,000 for WaterAid, a charity which helps some of the world’s poorest people gain access to safe drinking water and sanitation.
The money was raised by FT staff and readers through the annual seasonal appeal: newspaper and magazine articles, special online features and videos highlighted the work WaterAid does in Banlgadesh, Nepal, Mali and Ghana.
